It’s a New Day

There is something so relaxing about Sundays. It is like a gift from heaven. As I write this, I’m enjoying my time alone with God. That’s what Sundays are all about for me. Yes, you get to go to church and see your friends and other Christians, but it is so much more. Church on Sundays are a way for me to measure how I did during the past week. Here are some ways I measure this:

  1. Am I focused on what others are wearing/doing or on God speaking to me?
  2. Am I defensive when I’m convicted by the Holy Spirit or thankful He cares enough to remind me what is right?
  3. Am I too worn to make others’ Sunday better or do I search out those hurting and offer to help?

Here is why the above is important for me:

  1. My focus on Sunday is a direct correlation of my focus from my week.
  2. My defensive attitude proves I choose me over God.
  3. My weariness from the week means I’ve usually given more than God intended.

So, my relaxing Sundays,  even though at times chaotic, give me time to sit and evaluate my relationship with God. And, with me, there’s always room for improvement. How does your relationship with God need to improve today? This week?
