Don’t You Love a Good Story?

Sitting around the campfire, Dad began to tell the story the kids had heard multiple times. His story never seemed old to them. Dad would begin the story the same way each time, but his emphasis would vary depending on his mood. The kids lingered on his very words because this was not a story they could read about in books. No, this was a story created by Dad himself; just for the kids.

The kids would try to remember the story and tell it to their friends, but Dad still told it the best! After all, it was his story!

What made Dad’s story so great?

  1. There was history in the story. Dad would point out what happened before the kids were born. He told stories of what happened on the land before their house was there.
  2. It included each of the kids.  He allowed the kids’ presence to impact the story. They became key players.
  3. It was wrapped up in love. Parts of the story were scary, unknown, exciting, and fun. It was all wrapped up in love, as Dad told it to the kids. When they were scared, he would pause for a moment and ask if they were fine. When it was exciting, he would laugh and share in their joy.

Stories.

I think I’ve heard this story before.

In the beginning, God created…a story.  A story of His creation; us. In the Bible, we have:

  1. God creating the world we inhabit.
  2. A story where He desires for us to be key players who represent Him.
  3. An example of perfect love. God sent His Son, Jesus died on the cross, and the Holy Spirit came to inhabit our very lives.

Don’t you love a good story? God has written it upon our hearts.

What story are you telling to your friends?
