God’s Not Dead!

When someone you love dies, you remember the anniversary of their death. Sometimes you can mentally prepare for this anniversary and at other times you can’t. My grandfather died right around Easter eleven years ago. His first Sunday in heaven was Easter.

Yesterday was Good Friday. It is when we remember the day when Jesus died on the cross. It’s the anniversary of His death. For those in biblical times who witnessed the cross, they not only lost a friend and teacher, no, they lost the hope of an earthly king. They felt defeated. (Don’t worry…God was still working.)

The last two weeks have been a bit challenging for me. It seems as though a cloud has been following me. Little things turned into big things. It seemed bleak, it seemed hard, yet God was still miraculously at work.

During these two weeks, my family members are all safe. God has been close to me and we have been in communion together. Miracles have happened. My son, who has been allergic to eggs his entire life, until recently, just ate mayonnaise for the first time…he had no reaction!!! This is a HUGE miracle in the life of the Sims family.

If we’re not careful, when tough times come, we can look at the cross and feel defeated. We can look around us and our circumstances and get down. Times are tough and life is hard. There is sadness, loneliness, and disappointment for all of us.

Let me tell you something, just like when Jesus died on the cross, God’s not dead! He’s alive and well and working in our lives. We just have to take the time to look for Him among our surroundings and activities.

Do you spot Jesus standing in the garden? Is He calling your name? Run to Jesus, bow down your life to Him and His desires, and you’ll never be the same! God’s not dead, praise the Lord!

  1. Amen, Susan. He is alive, even when our circumstances block our view.

  2. Yes, I do agree.
Some hard times last longer than other people have patience with us for. Just keep running to Jesus and tell Him out loud that you trust Him. It’s good for us to say it out loud.
Reading your piece here, I pictured Jesus in the garden calling my name. Thank you for the word picture. I’ll keep it.
