The building is not what it used to be. It’s time for some renovation. The wall needs to be built, the ceiling needs repaired, the floors must be cleaned. You make plans to start the renovation, you buy supplies, and you move things around so the repairs can begin.
Do you stress about the changes or worry about the mess?
Renovations are typically changes for the better. Something is old and broken and changes are made to fix and restore the object.
The further we go in our spiritual journey, we realize there is a constant renovation happening in our lives. It is no longer the “big” things we once battled with; it is now the “small” things. Our attitudes, our opinions, our thoughts, how we spend our time are now all under the scope of renovation!
How do you react? Stress or mess?
Do you put yourself down because you are a failure and you see yourself as a mess? Do you stress because there is yet one more thing you need to do to fix yourself?
Relax!
Renovations can be overwhelming! There will be inconveniences and hardships. “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28, NLT).
It doesn’t get much better than that. No stress or mess when we come to Him. He is in control, not us.
Ready for your rest today? Go to Jesus.
