Coming home to Indiana has been a fun and exciting journey this past weekend. I feel like a child walking down a long path that looks a bit different now; although, it feels so similar. My husband and I graced the campus of Indiana University for lunch at a place that did not exist when I went to school there. Again, it was different and yet similar. The church had a special day for my parents as they have been at their present church for 25 years. Some of the people in the church were the same and there were many different ones. We saw people we have not seen in years. Our lives and circumstances have changed and yet we are still the same people we were years ago.
Life has a funny way of being the same yet different all at the same time. We expect to understand all that goes on in our lives. We see things in our lives that are different and we expect ourselves to be different because of the circumstances. Yes, I know we all change with time and with what God shows us. Could it be we are returning to the person God intended for us to be? We are, after all, spiritual beings in human bodies. Shouldn’t we then know we are becoming more and more who God intended to be?
What path are you walking down today? Do you expect everything on that path to be the same as when you were a child, or are you allowing God to show you different things on that same path? What is your focus today, the differences or the similarities? Can you appreciate them both at the same time?
