Goodbye is Not Forever

For the past two weeks a large group of people have been praying for Kristina Adkins and her family. Kristina went in to deliver their fifth girl early last week, complications ensued, and she went to be with the Lord late Thursday evening. In the meantime, though, her husband Jeremy has been giving updates on facebook.  Their story has been shared over and over again. People from all over the world were sending in their comments and prayers. There were many miracles in this situation.  God healed Kristina in a real and complete way; He healed her from her earthly body. Their beautiful baby girl is at home and alive.  So many people were brought together during this time of prayer and community. Her story touched me.

You see, I never met Kristina. I knew her husband, Jeremy, from college only because I knew his brother and sister-in-law. But their story resonates with any and all of us.  During our time of most difficult circumstances, will we choose to praise the Lord?  Will we choose to continue to believe in the God when things of this earth are taken away? Do we love them more than God?Jeremy remained true to God. He was transparent with expressing specific prayer requests. He showed God’s love and grace throughout this whole process.  The happy part of this story is that our “goodbye” to Kristina is not forever. As Christians, we believe we will one day see her in heaven.  What Kristina brought into my life is the reminder that we are not here forever. At any “normal” point of our lives it can be over in an instant. I prayed for these past two weeks for people to be able to see God in this situation and not to become hardened or bitter. I pray all will run into the arms of Christ.

A fund is set up for Jeremy’s girls’ schooling as Kristina home schooled them.  If you are interested in donating, please click on the link below.
